My husband just got a new job in Everett and we live in West Seattle....we must move. When I look at what is available now it is pretty depressing. Does anyone know when the spring inventory starts to pick-up?

You're asking the same question we are, BrendaB! Normally, this time of year kicks off the monthly growth in inventory that peaks during summer, but Seattle actually saw a decrease in housing inventory from December to January! Check out this post on our blog to see what I mean.

Thanks Chad that post was really helpful....unforunately, it confirmed my fear that we are going to sell our house that we love and not be able to find a new house that we like as much...ugh!

You are not alone wondering about the inventory. It really sucks.

The same houses have been recycled for the last few months. Yes, it totally sucks!

Thanks for the link, pse. For the reference of future readers once this thread is old, I believe the specific post pse is referring to is this one.
As for inventory, we're definitely looking at a squeeze on homes for sale this coming year. Typically selection starts to increase as soon as the calendar flips over to a new year. This year we're seeing a continued decline in most places. It seems that more and more potential sellers are simply unable or unwilling to sell at today's prices.
Unfortunately, this will probably be the case all year.
Good luck in your Everett home search! I bought my home in Everett last year. I recommend focusing on the area north of 41st street, west of Broadway, excluding actually on Colby or Rucker between 41st and Pacific. Cool old homes, decent neighbors.

Thanks Tim. We aren't moving to Everrett! As I work downtown and kids go to school in North Capitol Hill we need to compromise with something in between.

BrendaB, check out Shoreline. They have good schools and houses are priced relatively reasonably.
