How do we know if a property has been sold or just taken off market?

How do we know if a property listed on Redfin has been sold or has just been taken off the market? We get daily emails on status changes, but there were two houses we looked at last weekend that are now not listed, and I didn't see them change status to 'contingent / subject to inspection' at any time.  Does this mean the sellers just took them off the market?
Thanks!

Sold or off the market. In the end they mean the same thing to buyers. They are not available to purchase at this time. Lots of listings are being pulled due to the upcoming holiday season.

Re: How do we know if a property has been sold or just taken off market?

Hi HJM,

Homes can go off market for a number of reasons. It may have sold, the listing may have expired, or the seller may have removed the listing from the market for any number of reasons. Unfortunately the data feeds we get from the Multiple Listing Services (MLS) typically do not provide us with a reason for why a listing has gone off market.

If you have a question about a specific listing please feel free to contact us via Ask Redfin and one of our staff can look up the listing and figure out why it has gone off the market.

Thanks very much for the info.  Lo and behold, one of the houses just reappeared on the market $25K cheaper.
