EQ Insurance

Anyone looked into this?  I am looking at a condo in a "liquefaction" zone and got quite nervous once I saw that.

Re: EQ Insurance

it is up to the condo board to choose to buy this insurance.  Do they have it on the building?  You'll know if they do pretty quickly because the HOA fees will be pricey.

Re: EQ Insurance

They do not have it.  I've seen ones that do and it was not that much more expensive than HOAs on others, average about $200 higher (not insubstantial, but not insane either).

Re: EQ Insurance

Speaking as a single-family homeowner living in a liquifaction zone, I wouldn't have a lot of money tied up in an asset that I couldn't insure against an event that is much more likely to occur than a fire.

Re: EQ Insurance

You can actuall buy a product from the CEA that not only covers your condo contents, but also potential assessments from your HOA in the event of a quake.
