We may be purchasing a home in Murrieta (on the border of Temecula) and it will need all new flooring throughout and new appliances. The house is 1780 square feet and downstairs we are thinking about doing large tile in the kitchen/living room, bathrooms (2.5 of them) and laundry room, for this we found a guy on Craigslist selling tile for .95 a square foot. We'd like to do the rest of th downstairs (probably 400 square feet) in hardwood and then the rest of the upstairs in carpet (we were planning on getting a quote from Empire flooring for this). So, question here is are these the best prices/places to look for flooring and are there are places to get hardwoods for under 2 a square foot? Also, are there any local appliance stores that would offer discounts on buying all appliances in one (we need washer & dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave and refrigerator)? We don't have much money to spend so we are trying to do this as cheap as possible....thanks in advance for your help!!!

Tiffany - I bought a home in the Temecula area 2-1/2 years ago and my casita had carpet in the bathroom and so did my master bathroom and in front of the master shower - yuck, I know. So, I had the carpet replaced with some slate looking porcelain tile in those areas and I used Empire - they did a good job and I have no complaints about the workmanship - the only complaint I have is that I thought the guy could have put more thought into the arrangement of the tiles in the master bath. With the slate look there are several shades of brown and grey and some blue and no two tiles are alike and in my master bath there is a predominance of tiles with more brown in them too close together - he should have taken a step back and looked at it better before he installed it that way - it's just subtle though, no big deal. That cost me $950.00.
I also put in all new stainless appliances and I got those at Pacific Sales.I went with Frigidaire (except for the range hood) and I got a side by side refrigerator, double oven, built-in microwave, dishwasher, gas cooktop, and the range hood for a total cost of $4600.00 - and that included installation. These are not super high end stainless appliances but sort of middle of the road in quality - the fancier ones would have been a couple thousand more and I just wasn't willing to pay that. I think I got a really good deal on the appliances. I even got the next year's model refrigerator for the current year's price cause they were out of the current year's model. Again, installation went fine. Installer had to make some modifications in the space for my double oven but didn't charge me extra.
I already had my washer and dryer before I bought my house but I got those at Home Depot on a $999.00 special - this is the Amana High Efficiency front loading washer and electric dryer, although after I bought my home I discovered my hookup for the dryer was gas so I had to go out and buy a new gas dryer and I gave my electric one to my real estate agent. I added on the pedestals to those, which were another $219.00 each. Again, these are not high end but they work just fine. Only problem is my washer travels quite a bit on the spin cycle but I live with it - I think the technology is better now in that regard than even 4 years ago when I bought my washer and dryer.

We redid our carpets prior to moving in (tile everywhere else is in great shape)... we went with Temecula Carpets... which is a family owned business. They have hardwoods and laminate there too, if I'm not mistaken. Their office/showroom is in Enterprise Circle S... just off of Winchester, which shouldn't be that far from where your house is.
As for appliances... we only bought washer and dryer and that one we got from Best Buy.

Thanks! We are looking and Lumber Liquidators now, it looks like they have some pretty good sales and also people trying to sell back what they bought. Also, I didn't know there were Sears Outlets with super cheap appliances so we are going to check them out too.

Sears Outlets are on-line and have most of the big items in each store. When I bought my washer & dryer last year I found matching pedestals at the outlet. Pacific Sales is now owned by Best Buy. As with all "discounted" items check prices on line to verify that its a good deal. I've ran into items at Sears Outlets and Pacific Sales that are more than other places.

That's so true Nano. My brother has the exact same washer and dryer I do and he got his dented/scratched at Sears Outlet for the same price I paid for mine brand new. Needless to say, he was pretty upset about it.
