there seems to be a lot of homes coming on the market in Menifee -- don't know much about the town, can somebody fill me in?

Re: Menifee

I like Menifee. If you're looking for a decent, laid back town without the Temecula/Murrieta prices then I think it's a good option. Some of the home communities have man made lakes, which I really like. There's a big shopping center right next to the 215 freeway at Newport Rd. that houses a lot of stores. There's a junior college there too.

A lot of the housing in Menifee is newer, brought on by the boom, and most of those new home communities have huge assessments - I found that out when I was doing my home search. There is an older housing development that was built in the 90s called Lakeridge Estates that is to die for - but those homes don't come on the market very often and when they do they're quickly snatched up - grand-looking homes, huge lots.

Menifee's kind of rural and then there's the 15/215 bottleneck to contend with at rush hour.

I actually don't live that far from there out here in Winchester and I frequently take Scott Rd. through Menifee to get to the 215.

Re: Menifee

High school students go to Perris Unified which is not known for their stellar schools.  Elementary schools seems to be mostly above 700  with a few exceptions in Menifee.  The middle schools are split between good and bad.

I think the property value decline has hit school districts hard.  Those that were iffy to begin with were hit very hard.  Many of the homes in Menifee are very new.  People moved there for bigger homes that they could afford.
