I get up and go to work monday thru friday. then i come home to a old crappy house in Palo Alto. There are several things I enjoy doing that cannot be done in or near Palo Alto.

You're right though, to each their own.

Watersports in my backyard, being an hour from the Sierras...there are a ton of reasons that the Brentwood area would attract some people that just find themselves out of place in the concrete white collar parts of the bay area.

We moved from SF to Lamorinda / Walnut Creek area last Dec. Our #1 largest complaint and thing we miss is good SF food. Nearly all the places out here are chains withcrappy processed salty food or "SF" like ie simulated experience with processed crappy salty food. So far we have only found a couple of hole in the wall places which serve fresh well done food like what you find in nearly every neighborhood in SF.

SF turns people into food snobs! Given it just has so many fantastic little hole in the wall places that serve good stuff for a range of prices. East Bay? Not so much

Fluff - went there once I've been to Nation's in a number of other locations that are 10X cleaner and better than the Moraga location. LOL - So far we have two favorites in Lafayette and two OK places in Orinda. WC so far has been one big strike out after another given there are nearly zero non chain eats in that town.

Hey guys regarding boating access out in Brentwood. I own two sailboats and can tell you that water access out there is more like mud access unless the city has put down major bucks to dredge every few years. And we all know that few cities have the money to do that. Unless your launching a river boat or flat bottom skiff you need a dredged ramp and the farther you get from the main part of the bay the harder that gets.

Some advice if your buying a home with water access with boating in mind have the access point checked and the route to the main body of water reivewed for actual use given many "water front homes with docks" are more like water front home with a foot or two of water over mud.
