Quick question here -

Buyers, what additional information would you like to see on the listing page of a home before you decide if it's worth your time to tour it?

Sellers, what additional information would you want to share with potential buyers to entice them to check out your property?

Thanks for the help brainstorming!

-Michael

Redfin Product Manager

As a buyer, certainly the list of rooms and their dimensions would be very valuable (garage / deck / lot dimensions too), and I believe I've seen these in certain county records and MLS. Of course, even better would be the floor plan. (Personally, I would like to find a home with 2 ground floor bedrooms, which is very hard to determine without touring.)

I know it's not what you asked, but I sure would love to be able to *search* by criteria such number of levels, does it have a pool and whether the garage is attached.

Knowing the bedroom sizes would be good along with where they are located (1st, 2nd, 3rd .. floors). Same with bathrooms. Is the master an ensuite or? Links to local building department (permit checks), school district and utilities would be a big help.

From a buyer's perspective - It would help to know which public schools service that particular address...not alist of enarby schools, but the exact school that kids living at that address would be allotted to...

it would be great if i could do a redfin search and restrict the number of bathrooms, how many levels, attached or detached garage, pool or no pool, have smaller steps in between price, sq footage, and lot size. there's a big difference between 4500 sf and 6000 sf.

for any particular listing, it would be great to see floor plan and exact schools.

My biggest gripe about real estate listings, not just Redfin, but ALL real estate websites, are the poor quality photos! It boggles my mind that someone trying to sell a $300K+ property (or ANY price range) will post less than 6 photos of the property. I get better pics of what I'm looking for on eBay!!! I think real estate websites need to concentrate on better quality pictures, MORE pictures in general, and the ability to view those pictures in their ORIGINAL size! How can a prospective buyer get a sense of the space with these tiny pictures? It's pathetic!! I feel sellers are losing out on getting more interest because the photos are so BAD!

My biggest complaint about listings is the lack of good information about garage size. "2 car garage" or "3 car garage" is far too general. How many sq ft is it? That's what I want to know. Also, how come no pictures of the garage? To guys like me, the garage is as important as the kitchen & bathrooms are to our wives!

Redfin's not blocking them. The listing agent goes back in and removes or changes data in some cases; in other cases, the listing agent delists and then relists, and the listing price under the old listings is not available under the new listing number.

Rebeccah
