Some of our neighbours are fairly untidy people. For instance, the ones next door have a car graveyard on their driveway with 3 apparently dead cars and one half dead one out there. Another neighbour has left a dead armchair out on their kerb for over a month (I had assumed they were going to call the Sanitation Dept to come get it but obviously not). Is there anything we can do about all of this? Are there any City ordinances regulating such things? I live in Winnetka. I'm sure such behaviour would not be tolerated in Beverly Hills! When I've got the cash, I'd like to build a fence so I no longer have to look at these cars. Fortunately I think they're renters so I guess they won't be there for ever. Maybe I should write to the owners....

On a related note, is there anywhere in Los Angeles where you can take large items (like furniture, garden equipment etc) to be either recycled or disposed of? Everywhere else I've lived, you can go to a garbage dump and get rid of items that way rather than have to call them to have things collected.

Kudos!

Bulky items can be picked up by the Bureau of Sanitation. They have a form on their website to make the request.

My city has free large item pick up.  Maybe you could call your city's waste management.  I am not sure you could do much about the cars though.  If they were on the street, you maybe able to do something about it, but probably not on their driveway.

I'm curious - was the trash and neighbor problem visible when you bought the home?
