How does Redfin update their sale records? Does MLS populate the sale records?  Do the records come from some other public record source? Where does Redfin get this information?

Just wondering. . .

Hi sparki131,

In the Chicago market, the sale records are pulled from the tax record data provided by the MLS.

Good question....but why does the sales information exclude PHOTOGRAPHS?

bkt-

We are not allowed to show photos of homes that are not on the market. We don't have the rights to the listing photos.

How is it that other websites (trulia, zillow, & MLS) have the rights to the photographs?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

As a member of the MLSs in the markets we serve, we get the listing photos on our site from the MLS. They retain the rights to these images.

The images on Trulia and Zillow don't come from the MLS. Listing agents load the images of the homes they're trying to sell directly on those sites.

Chris
