Hi, this is Ellie Wilkinson, Redfin's Director of Marketing.
We'd like to invite all you forums readers to our Silicon Valley Red Carpet event, Wednesday June 11, 6 – 8 p.m., in Menlo Park. Join our agents, engineers and execs, as well as other folks thinking about buying or selling in the Valley.
If you want to take a home-buying class, come early. The class, from 5:00 to 6:00, will cover pricing trends in the Valley, the home-buying process, and online resources for buyers. RSVP and learn more.
You can also sign up for a one-on-one with a Redfin agent between 4:00 and 5:00 by emailing sf.redcarpet@redfin.com - make sure and tell us if there's a particular agent you'd like to meet.
Or, just come to chat. The party starts at 6:00 and the pizza and beer are on us. RSVP and learn more.

I attended this event tonight and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in buying a house. The home-buying class was presented by Glenn Kelman (CEO of Redfin) and he did a great job of explaining the home buying process. He also gave some great tips and advice. There was absolutely no sales pressure and the Redfin employees I spoke to were more interested in my opinion of their website and what I thought could be improved. The evening ended with free salad, pizza, beer, wine, and soft drinks! I had already put an offer in on our first house 3 days ago with Redfin and it was accepted, but I still learned a lot from this class. Great job Redfin and great website! Soon to be homeowner, Linda

Darn, I didn't notice the mention of the class. I saw the crowd gathered and assumed they were doing the demo of the upcoming features, so I spent most of my time talking to Charmaine (time well spent).
Overall, this was a nice event, and helped put a human side to Redfin.
I was really impressed by the venue until I realized I had crashed a biotech schmoozing at the swanky golf course next door 
I enjoyed chatting with Michael Young (CTO), Sasha and several other people that help make Redfin what it is.
Suggestions for next time:
- Let's do East Bay.
- Have sticky nametags that don't flop around.
- Have nametags for everyone and indicate the person's interest in the event (ie, Redfin staff, homebuyer, investor, mortgage broker, etc)
I'd love to see a summary of the homebuying class if anyone has notes, and/or if there was a powerpoint that Redfin can make available.
