I really, really enjoyed Redfin and its searchable functions on housing listing... =) We plan to buy a house in Fremont area in next 2-3 months; Has Refin had any east bay transaction for houses esp in the Fremont area? Also, Do Refin agents do home tours on mornings during the weekend? (I believe it states Refin office opens M-F 9 to 6pm, but only 12noon to 6pm on weekends) Thank you.

Sheesh! Glad all is well in Toursville and Fremont.
Thank you for your inquiry and interest in Redfin.
We conduct tours daily, from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Before you tour homes with Redfin, you must have a pre-approval letter for the amount of the asking price of the homes you want to tour. Once you're pre-approved for a mortgage:
• Your first two home tours are free. • Your third and fourth home tours reduce your Redfin refund by $250 each. If you don't buy a home with Redfin, you pay nothing for these tours. • After your first four home tours, additional tours cost $250 in advance. During the tour, we can see several homes with the final number depending on their relative location, and the time you need to spend in each and traffic.
The best way to tour the homes you are interested in seeing: On the upper right hand corner of a listing, you will see a link that says "Tour This Home". That will take you to a page that will ask you a few questions and then our Field Agent team will contact you.
Here is a great link that explains the process: http://www.redfin.com/buy-a-home/tour-homes

Aloha, Aloha! First, let me apologize for any confusion about our policy on bank-owned properties. Your post tells me that we must not have communicated this well with you.
Regarding bank-owned/REO/Foreclosures, if they are listed in the MLS, we DO provide support for purchasing those listings. If they’re not MLS listed, we won’t, because they often involve court reviews, auctions or other things that we’re not able to help with.
The other bank-involved listings are short sales. In case you didn’t already know, this is where the seller owes more to the bank than the property is worth, and is hoping the bank will agree to take a loss on the sale. Redfin has done a lot of research on the low success rate of short sales in all our markets. The result is that we only support offers on certain short sales where success indicators are present. This might seem like a harsh line to draw, and we’d like you to read the information we’ve posted to fully understand the grim reality of most short sales, and why we’ve made this decision:
http://blog.redfin.com/blog/2008/04/short_sales_real_estate.html
Redfin does have a minimum transaction fee, and for properties with a sale price less than $200,000, our minimum fee often means that there is very little if any commission left over for us to refund to our customer. However, this has nothing to do with short sales. Our reason for the restrictive policy is because they so rarely close.
I hope this helps to clarify our stance, and remove any confusion for the future.
Best of luck in your home search,
Susan
