My husband and I put an offer in today on a Condo in SF using Redfin.  The service has been great, by the way.  :smileyhappy:  But something just occurred to us: We know that multiple offers were received for the house we bid on, and we know that lots and lots of people are using Redfin these days...  the agent we used is pretty much Redfin's go-to agent for SF... is there a chance that our agent also put in an offer on this house for ANOTHER person/couple (in addition to putting in our offer)??  Is that possible/legal?  Would she have to disclose that she was also working for someone else on this property??

Thanks!

Courtney

All you have to do is ask your agent, they are obliagted to tell you.  It is legal, but they can't disclose the details of the offer, and vice versa.

It's is legal but not really ethnical, IMO.

I don't think it's uncommon.

But they may not share the pricing info with the other clients.

My realtor is a 1 buyer per home person and he told me he will not accept offers if he has a client that puts an offer on a property. That's why he is still our agent :smileywink:

It wouldnt suprise me your being two timed.

Its pretty common for realtors to spin the tale of multiple offers on homes that been on the market

for months, once there is an offer, they kick in the MOs out of the closet.  I know people who back off

and then find the home still hasnt sold.  Phantom aka Fake multiple offers are very common.

I dont know how you can verify if there are real multiple offers.

Thank you for using Redfin!

You pose an excellent question. It does happen that more than one buyer will seek representation by Redfin on a particular property. In the event that this happens, a different Redfin agent will represent each buyer while keeping the terms of their respective offer confidential. Because our agents work out of different locations throughout the Bay Area, we are not always aware when we have buyers offering on the same property. However, our clients are welcome to ask for this information and we are happy to find out the latest. Above all, Redfin clients can rest assured that their agent is representing their interests and their interests only.
